Private Cecil Ennis

Four of the eight sons of the Ennis family of Ayr, Ontario enlisted and served overseas with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War 1. Cecil Ennis was born on August 17, 1896. By the time he enlisted in 1916, his brother Orwell had already died for `king and empire', and his brother, Irwin was fighting in the front lines. Another brother, Wesley also enlised in 1916. Cecil was twenty years old when he enlisted with an Artillery Battalion in Toronto. He wrote the following letters after the November 11th, 1918 Armistice.
